DOT Physical or Medical exam is required by FMCSA for a new and renewal of a commercial driver's license. The Doctor who performed this exam must be certified by FMCSA National Registry.
First, driver will fill out the form MCSA-5875 and answer general medical history. Then examining doctor will go over the medical history with the driver.
Our clinic will provide this form.
The examining doctor or assistant will check the following:
Height, weight, blood pressure, and pulse. Blood pressure is a very important part of the exam. If you are taking medication to control your blood pressure please let the examining doctor know that you are taking the medication. You should take your medication when you are going to the DOT exam. If your blood pressure reads too high at the time of examination, the doctor can disqualify you until your blood pressure is under control according to the FMCSA guideline.
Do you wear eye glasses or contact lenses? Make sure to wear and bring them with you on the day of the DOT exam.
